Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections are used for non-invasive facial rejuvenation. We can treat areas previously considered untreatable such as wrinkles and lines around the mouth and neck. Melbourne anti-wrinkle treatments will maintain your individual personality and the expressions you like your face to convey but can soften those imperfections you feel are necessary to be treated.

What sets Liberty Belle apart

Our nurses receive continual ongoing support and education to keep up-to-date with the most advanced and modern techniques, all while under the supervision of a premier medical practice. Our team of doctors and nurses works closely with all patients to best achieve each individual’s desired results. At every consultation, we create a tailored treatment plan that works for the individual’s personal concerns and requirements.

How do Melbourne Anti-Wrinkle injections work?

Most facial wrinkles form mainly as a result of the continual contraction of the delicate facial muscles, which work continually to cause different facial expressions like frowning and squinting. Melbourne anti-wrinkle injections work by precisely targeting and relaxing excessive contractions in the muscles of the face. After a treatment, excess movement and the appearance of unwanted expression lines are diminished. Skillfully administered anti-wrinkle treatments in Melbourne will soften lines.

What can you treat with anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections can treat:

  • Crows’ feet
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Forehead lines
  • Drooping eyebrows
  • Upper lip lines (‘smoker’s lines’)
  • Frown lines around mouth corners
  • Nasal tip drooping
  • Gummy smile
  • Neck bands
  • Jawline concerns (to slim or define the Jawline)
  • Pebbling or ‘orange peel’ look on the chin

Your Treatment at Liberty Belle

Our Cosmetic Nurse Injectors have an educated understanding of facial aesthetics, anatomy, and injecting techniques. Every treatment at Liberty Belle is customised. You will receive a thorough face-to-face assessment and consultation with our Doctor and your Cosmetic Nurse Injector where we discuss your individual concerns and desired outcomes. Your face-to-face consultation is the most safe and effective way to tailor your treatment plan to best suit your personal aims. Post Anti-wrinkle injections you can resume normal activities immediately. The procedure itself takes around 10-15 minutes to complete though naturally, the consultation process is longer.

How much discomfort is involved?

Because the needle is so fine, patients generally do not find the treatment too uncomfortable. It is often described as feeling like a series of pin pricks. Our nurses use a number of advanced techniques to reduce discomfort and make every effort to keep you comfortable.

How long will it take to see results of anti-wrinkle injections?

You will notice a change after about 3 days, but the best results will not emerge until 2 weeks after the treatment. At Liberty Belle, we encourage you to return for a 2-week review where your Cosmetic Nurse Injector will assess the anti-wrinkle treatment to ensure we have met the expected results. Anti-wrinkle injections in Melbourne are medical treatments, and what works for one person may not work as well for another. At Liberty Belle, we treat in a manner to minimise unwanted side effects. We encourage patients to attend their 2-week review so their Cosmetic Nurse Injector can advise on any areas that may benefit from further treatment.

Are there any side effects?

There can be a small amount of bleeding, bruising or redness at the injection site. In some cases, some residual bruising may take several days to subside.

Other rare but possible side effects may result from your individual response to the medication used. Depending on the area treated, such temporary effects could include; over-active eyebrows (this is an indication that you clinician may need to adjust the distribution and dose of the anti-wrinkle injection, and is easily rectified at the 2-week review), Puffiness around the eyes (this resolves itself over the 3-month period and is an indication that your clinician needs to adjust the dose and placement of the anti-wrinkle injection), and asymmetry (assessed at the 2-week review). The experience of our team is that side effects of anti-wrinkle injections have been temporary and resolve themselves. The doctor and treating clinician will discuss these possible side effects in more detail at the time of your consultation. Having your treatment performed in a professional medical setting with experienced injectors is vital for the best results and safety.

Can I resume normal activities post anti-wrinkle injections?

Normal activities may be resumed post-treatment. We advise that you avoid strenuous activity and exercise for approximately 6 hours post-treatment.

To avoid unwanted side effects, you should avoid applying pressure or rubbing the treated area for the remainder of the day of treatment. Facials, eyebrow waxing, eyebrow tattooing/feathering and massage (specific to the treated area) should be avoided for 1 week post-treatment.

How long will the results last?

On average, the results of anti-wrinkle injections will last around 3 to 4 months however this is dose-dependent. Patients typically return around the third or fourth month to maintain their new look. The appropriate treatment interval varies from person to person. Your Cosmetic Nurse Injector will advise what is best for you.

Who is not suitable for anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are generally well tolerated however they are not suitable for everyone.  Our onsite doctor will discuss your medical history with you at your face-to-face consultation to assess whether anti-wrinkle injections are right for you. Anti-wrinkle injections should not be administered for aesthetic purposes to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive within six months of treatment.

How much do anti-wrinkle injections cost?

The costs for anti-wrinkle injections depend on the number and extent of areas that need treatment. Please contact our clinic to receive information on costs that is relevant to your personal aims and requirements.

What is the difference between dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing the targeted muscles that are apparent when making an expression or animating the face eg. frowning. This softens the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the area of concern.

Dermal fillers are performed near the Melbourne CBD, work by injecting a gel designed to fill wrinkles, restore volume and enhance hydration. They are injected into different layers of the skin to address a wide variety of individual skin and contour concerns.

Anti-wrinkle treatments in Melbourne and dermal fillers are often used in conjunction with each other. Some areas of the face are better suited to anti-wrinkle injections, whereas others may require dermal fillers. At the time of consultation, your Cosmetic Nurse Injector will advise you on which treatment best addresses your individual concerns.
