Threads

Threads are designed to promote collagen production within the body. The threads are made from Polydioxanone (PDO), an absorbable polymer. This material is flexible, durable, smooth, and has no barbs.

When placed into skin in areas that require extra firming, the threads become support structures for your face, allowing collagen production to increase. Collagen forms around the threads to create a firming effect in the skin. Over time, the threads dissolve and leave the newly-formed collagen behind. This treatment works particularly well for peri-oral lines, accordion (smile) lines, nose-to-mouth lines, necklines, and sagging necks.

There are two different types of Threads:

  • Mono Threads: Mono Threads are a type of single PDO filament which are smooth and made without barbs. They are inserted into the skin in a mesh-like pattern, producing a firming effect. While Mono Threads firm the skin, they provide no lifting effect.
  • Double Screw Threads: Screw Threads feature a double-thread screw, consisting of 1-2 intertwined threads, which provide volume to the treated area.

All cosmetic treatments carry risks. These risks will be discussed prior to the commencement of treatment. Our nurses utilise a range of techniques, and every treatment is carefully tailored to suit the individual patient.

What is the process of Threads?

After an extensive consultation, your Cosmetic Nurse Injector will take photographs before they begin.

The procedure is carried out using the highest infection control standards. Skin will be cleaned using a disinfectant solution prior to any injections.

The threads are inserted into the subdermal level in a mesh-like pattern to promote the creation of new collagen. The threads activate collagen synthesis, which produces a gradual skin thickening, skin firming, and rejuvenation effect.

Topical anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area. The threads are inserted using a micro-needle. There is no incision, and no stitches are required.

Treatments typically take between thirty and sixty minutes.

What areas can you address with Threads?

Threads are most commonly used to address the following areas:

  • Upper and lower cheeks
  • Forehead and brows
  • Neck and jawline
  • Nose to mouth lines
  • Marionette lines

How do threads help to firm the skin?

They induce natural collagen production, which creates a firming effect. This effect lasts for six to twelve months.

Results may be seen in six weeks and will continue to improve over two to six months. While the threads slowly dissolve, their effects may last up to twelve months.

Why should you choose Liberty Belle?

We allow ample time for you to communicate your aesthetic goals and will use our expertise to help you achieve your desired outcome. The experience you have with us is very important. We offer various ways to alleviate any discomfort or anxiety.

The first step is simply contacting us to arrange your initial consultation, where we will discuss realistic and achievable outcomes, and what to expect from your treatment.

How do they differ from barbed threads?

Mono & Double Screw threads differ from thread lifts, which use long barbed threads to lift tissues. Instead, mono threads provide an improvement of fine lines and wrinkles by gradually stimulating natural collagen production.

How much discomfort is involved?

The area sometimes requires numbing with local anaesthetic to eliminate or reduce any discomfort. Should discomfort occur, it is only temporary.

Are there any side effects?

Mild swelling and bruising should be expected and will take several days to subside. There may be mild tenderness in the treated area for approximately one week.

All cosmetic treatments carry risks. Your Cosmetic Nurse Injector will discuss these risks with you prior to the commencement of your treatment. That way, you can make an informed decision about whether you wish to proceed with the proposed treatment plan.

How can I prepare for a treatment?

Avoid wearing makeup to appointments where possible.

Schedule the treatment at least one week prior to a special occasion or event. If you have an active infection or virus, or are feeling unwell, it is best to call and reschedule your appointment. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or actively trying to conceive, we cannot carry out a thread treatment.

What is the cost?

The price of Threads differ depending on your desired result. Please get in touch with us at the Liberty Belle Skin Centre for further information.
