Pearl Fusion Melbourne

Pearl Fusion is a fractional laser that treats wrinkles by stimulating collagen production. ‘Fractional’ describes a treatment that only exposes a fraction of the skin to the laser beam in a pattern of tiny dots. This approach has the advantage of reducing healing time.

Pearl Fusion is specifically intended to treat ageing skin. It can be used on the entire face and is particularly adept at treating crows’ feet and wrinkles around the mouth. As a deep treatment it usually provides significant improvement after a single procedure, however it does require a minimum 7 days of downtime.

Patients aged 30+ with concerns specifically related to ageing skin.

How does Pearl Fusion work?

Pearl Fusion uses laser pulses to place microscopic holes in the skin, leaving columns of damaged skin that are selectively removed, but which leave the surrounding skin intact. This plumps the skin from below and improves the appearance of wrinkles and other imperfections as new collagen is produced.

What will happen during the procedure?

After a consultation, your clinician will administer the treatment using a small, precise handpiece. It will feel like you are receiving a series of fast, hot pinches.

How much discomfort is involved?

As a fractional laser, Pearl does involve some discomfort. A registered nurse will apply numbing cream to assist with pain management, and if your tolerance levels are particularly low they may administer other forms of anaesthetic.

What can I expect after the procedure?

Your skin will look and feel like it is freshly sunburnt, and may be slightly swollen, though not painful. Pearl Fusion includes a minimum 7 days of downtime, during which period you will need to apply ointment and limit sun exposure. After five days you will be able to wear makeup again. Results will begin to manifest after a week, with best results emerging from 1 to 6 months afterwards.

How many treatments will I need?

A single treatment is usually all you require. However, your clinician may recommend a follow-up treatment after an appropriate interval. They will also recommend at-home care so you can maintain your results.

What are the results?

Results are gradual and progressive. As the skin produces collagen over a period of 6 months, you should notice your skin becoming smoother and plumper, resulting in a more rejuvenated appearance.
